The League recognizes coaches as an essential component of successful mountain bike teams and wants to do whatever we can to support them. On this page you will find many resources that can help you organize your League team. Please contact lauren@norcalmtb.org with any questions.

Coaches Licensing and License Renewal

The NorCal Leagues Coaches Licensing Program was introduced to ensure that all League riders have adult leaders familiar with the best coaching practices. Licenses coaches have been trained in topics that include risk management, team management, ride management, and youth sports psychology.

Now in it's second year, the Coaches Licesning Program has expanded to include Head Coaches, Assistant Coache and Ride Leaders. The introuction of the Temporary License has madeentry into the program easier than ever. All license holders, including Temporary Licenses, are covered by comprehensive liability insurance provided by the League for the duration of the season.

Coaches' Licensing and License Renewal for the 2010 season is now open. In order to be covered by the comprehensive liability insurance, League coaches must complete the following:

  1. Complete the 2010 Coaches Licensing Form
  2. Read and sign a 2010 League Release
  3. Obtain a Background Check (only required one time)
  4. Head Coaches, Asst. Coaches and Ride Leaders must complete Field Hours Declaration Forms. Please click on the link for the appropriate form: Head Coaches Field Hours; Asst. Coach and Ride Leader Field Hours.

Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Ride Leaders holding a license are eligable for certain benefits, including a custom Specialized S-Works Helmet (while supplies last).

Leaders’ Summit

Each fall the League hosts a Leaders’ Summit at which we offer clinics and seminars to help coaches, ride leaders, and other volunteers develop in areas including first aid, skills instruction, team management, working with adolescents, coaching girls, and much more. Winter Riding Camps

Attend our Winter Riding Camps and help lead rides and teach skills alongside highly experienced instructors.
